Roberto Pelosi

A native of Dublin, Roberto graduated from The University of Northumbria, England with an Honours degree in Physiotherapy in 1992. Roberto moved to Chicago in 1993 where he was Senior physiotherapist for the University of Chicago’s Sports Medicine department for 4 years before becoming the Director of Out-Patient Therapies for Synergon Health System. In these roles Roberto was responsible for the development and implementation of preventative and management programs of neuromusculoskeletal injuries for patients and leading collegiate athletes. In 1997 he opened the first of his private clinics in Chicago specialising in the management of musculoskeletal injuries and fitness programs.

In 1998 Roberto was awarded certification in Manual Therapy from the North American Institute of Manual Therapy and was awarded a Masters of Physiotherapy (Manipulative) from the University of Queensland, Australia in 1999. Roberto is committed to further education and has lectured on manual therapy and sports rehabilitation internationally. Roberto has guest lectured on the post-graduate manipulative therapy program at University College Dublin and co developed and implemented a 3 day course on the evaluation, differential diagnosis and management of the Cervical Spine on behalf of the Chartered Physiotherapists in Manipulative Therapy, Ireland. He has also tutored clinical placements for post- graduate students and received students for clinical residency at Premier Physiotherapy. Roberto is also trained in the practise of Dry Needling which is a technique used on myofascial trigger points that are associated with myofascial pain presentations.

Roberto founded Prem1er Physiotherapy 2004 and is involved in the progressive development of the clinic as a centre of excellence for manual therapy, sports/dance injuries and functional rehabilitation. Roberto has extensive experience with professional sporting bodies throughout the U.S.A, Australia and now Ireland. These include Premiership soccer in the UK, Professional rugby in Australia and an extensive two year tour of North and South America as Medical Officer with Riverdance Dance Company. In 2005-2006 he was co physiotherapist with the Irish Mens Senior Hockey team who successfully won the European B Division and was physiotherapist for the Dublin Senior Hurling team for 3 seasons, 2006-2008. Roberto is also certified with the PACE carding scheme which allows the provision of care to Irelands elite athletes.

In his spare time Roberto likes to compete in distance events and participates in triathlon and marathons including the last 6 Dublin City marathons, the 2004 Chicago triathlon and 2006 Two Oceans Ultra-Marathon (35 miles), Cape Town, South Africa.

Doireann Nash

Doireann Nash graduated from The Royal College of Surgeons, School of Physiotherapy in 2004. She then joined St. James Hospital, Dublin as a staff physiotherapist. Doireann initially completed rotations through many specialist areas of physiotherapy prior to specialising in orthopaedic medicine. She established herself as a clinical specialist in orthopaedic/musculoskeletal physiotherapy and was a clinical educator for Trinity College physiotherapy students.

Doireann was awarded a Masters of Manual Therapy from the University of Western Australia in 2008. She has spent the last number of years focusing on actively treating elite athletes and musculoskeletal conditions within private practice settings. She has a keen interest in sports practise and was physiotherapist to the Leinster U19 Provincial rugby team (2006). Currently she is Head Physiotherapist to De La Salle Palmerstown RFC, AIL Division 2, a position she has held for 6 seasons.

Doireann is herself an avid athlete and has competed in ‘three day eventing’ at national level and participated in numerous marathons/triathlons.

Prior to entering physiotherapy Doireann also completed a BA (Mod) Natural Sciences (Biochemistry) at Trinity College, graduating in 2000. Doireann is also trained in the practise of Dry Needling which is a technique used on myofascial trigger points that are associated with myofascial pain presentations.

Eilis Connery

Eilis obtained her BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree at University College Dublin in 2005. She spent almost two years gaining rotational experience in specialist areas of physiotherapy in the Mid-Western Regional hospital in Limerick. She then travelled to Australia to study and work for just over two years. She completed her Master of Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapy in Adelaide, South Australia in 2007. A large component of the year focused on chronic pain education and neural mobilisation techniques. Over the two years Eilis worked in private practice and with various Australian Rules and Netball teams in Adelaide. She also trained in Polestar Pilates and qualified as an instructor during this time. She has since instructed Pilates classes and provided individual pilates sessions.

Eilis has completed a number of accredited post-graduate courses including myofascial Dry needling, neural mobilisation, myofascial release, NST (neurostructural integration technique) and various motor control and movement retraining courses. Her focus is on combining manual techniques with postural and motor control work to help clients move with less tension and strain in their bodies. She also enjoys working with clients experiencing chronic pain.

Outside of physiotherapy Eilis is an accomplished athlete. She has competed in track athletics since an early age and has started to race marathons and duathlon over the past two years. Eilis plans to compete at the World Duathlon Championships in September 2010. Eilis can draw on her own experiences as an athlete and her own experiences of injury and believes the body possess an amazing potential to both prevent and treat injury when given appropriate direction. Eilis loves the challenge of helping her clients realise and develop their full potential.
